Anlin, based in Clovis, California, and Milgard, founded in Tacoma, are the two names California homeowners most often see on vinyl replacement quotes. Both now belong to the same parent group. They still differ in range, glass options and warranty structure.

This page, part of our California window guide, compares them using what each company currently publishes. We install both, so we have no reason to tilt it. For more on each, see Milgard windows from Heritage Exteriors and Anlin Designer Black windows.
Anlin Windows & Doors describes itself as a replacement window and door manufacturer headquartered in Clovis, California, founded by Tom Vidmar in 1990. Its focus has always been replacement windows, sold through authorized dealers.
Milgard was founded in Tacoma, Washington in 1958, started with glass and aluminum windows, and today sells vinyl, fiberglass and aluminum products for both new construction and replacement across the western United States through Milgard Certified Dealers.
Both are now part of MITER Brands: Milgard says it joined in 2019, and Anlin's site describes it as a member of the same group. They continue to operate as separate brands with separate product lines and warranty documents. It does explain why Anlin's newest warranty document closely resembles Milgard's.
The first difference is breadth. Anlin makes vinyl. Milgard makes vinyl, fiberglass and aluminum.
| Anlin window collection | How Anlin describes it |
|---|---|
| Del Mar | Its top collection, "fully loaded" with feature upgrades; foam-filled frame chambers and fiberglass-reinforced inserts; sound package standard. Available only from Anlin Del Mar Gold Star Dealers. |
| Catalina | Designed for beauty, energy efficiency, durability and ease of operation. |
| Coronado | A companion line with the extra frame depth needed for double-hung, double-slider and casement styles. |
| Panoramic | Slim-profile frame for maximum viewing area and a contemporary look. |
| Panoramic 100 / Coronado 100 | Newer versions carrying the "100" designation and a different warranty (see below). |
| Milgard window series | Material | How Milgard describes it |
|---|---|---|
| V250 Style Line | Vinyl | Quality vinyl paired with affordability; slim styling |
| V300 Trinsic | Vinyl | Contemporary narrow frame, expansive glass area |
| V400 Tuscany | Vinyl | Top-of-the-line vinyl |
| C700 | Fiberglass | Its fiberglass series |
| A250 | Thermally improved aluminum | Narrow sightlines, anodized finishes |
Rough counterparts: Anlin Panoramic against Milgard V300 Trinsic for a slim modern frame; Anlin Catalina and Del Mar against Milgard V400 Tuscany for a traditional, fuller frame. If you want something other than vinyl, such as fiberglass for a large sun-exposed opening or aluminum for a mid-century house, only Milgard offers it. See fiberglass versus vinyl and vinyl versus aluminum.
Both make sliding patio doors to match: Anlin's are the Malibu line, and Milgard offers doors in its Tuscany, Trinsic, fiberglass and aluminum series along with moving glass walls.
Anlin's marketing is built around named glass packages, which it lists on each collection page:
Milgard organizes its glass options by series rather than under branded package names, so ask the dealer which low-E package is being quoted and get its certified figures.
How to use this in California: the valley and inland zones want a low solar heat gain package (in Anlin's terms, Infinit-e or SunMatrix); San Francisco and Tahoe have no prescriptive solar heat gain limit, so a higher-gain package can be the more comfortable choice there. Whatever the package is called, the test is the NFRC label. The prescriptive maximum U-factor for replacement windows is 0.27 across Northern California, the Central Valley and the Sierra, with SHGC of 0.23 or less in most zones; see what Title 24 requires and how to read the label. For which packages suit the valley, see the best energy-efficient windows for Sacramento, and for noise, types of soundproof windows.
This is the part most likely to be described wrongly on a sales call, because both companies changed their documents recently. Milgard's current warranties took effect 1 January 2026. Anlin's residential booklet applies to products sold after 1 July 2024, and its 100-line warranty to products made after 1 September 2026.

Anlin's Double Lifetime coverage passes to one subsequent owner who also occupies the home, on a condition: Anlin must be notified of the transfer within 90 days of the change of ownership, with the names of both owners, the address and the date. If that notice is not given, the document says the warranty ends when the original purchaser no longer owns or occupies the home. If you are buying a house with Anlin windows, put this on your closing checklist. Anlin's site says transfers are handled through its Consumer Services Department.
Milgard's Full Lifetime Warranty Upgrade, listed for the V400 Tuscany, V300 Trinsic and C700 series, adds lifetime coverage of the glass seal and hardware, non-specialty glass breakage and all labor for the original owner-occupant. It must be purchased with the original order, it is not offered everywhere, and it does not transfer.
Anlin's booklet excludes corrosion from a salt-air environment, loss of hardware function in buildings within two miles of the ocean or a body of salt water, and products installed in buildings with a non-drainable EIFS or similar synthetic stucco system. Milgard's excludes corrosion and abnormal environments apart from a one-year term on stainless steel hardware. If you live near the coast, read our sibling guide on coastal windows before choosing hardware and finishes.
Anlin's documents direct you to the contractor who installed the product or to Anlin directly. Milgard's direct you to its service request page or phone line. Both newer documents ask for claims within 30 days of discovering a problem. Our sibling guides cover the process: how to make a window warranty claim and window warranties explained.
Both brands now offer dark exteriors on vinyl. Anlin's is a black capstock sold as Designer Black, which Anlin describes as a durable integrated color. Milgard lists Black Capstock among the exterior and interior colors for its Tuscany and Trinsic series, alongside exterior colors such as bronze, espresso and silver. Check which colors are available on the inside as well as the outside for the specific line, and note the finish warranty terms in the table above. Our sibling guide on dark window frames and heat covers what dark colors mean on a hot elevation.
On most ordinary retrofit jobs both will perform well, and the installer matters more than the label. Ask each bidder for the collection or series by name, the glass package, the NFRC figures and which warranty document applies, then use how to compare window replacement quotes. For installed cost ranges see our cost page.
Anlin says its Sound Package, standard on Del Mar and optional elsewhere, reduces outside noise by up to 50 percent compared with typical dual-pane windows, and that its Catalina, Coronado and Panoramic windows come with double-strength glass. Those are the manufacturer's figures. If noise is the reason you are replacing windows, ask either brand for the tested sound ratings of the specific unit and glass make-up, because that is the like-for-like number. Our page on types of soundproof windows covers which glass changes actually help.
Both brands are Western, and their newer warranties say so in the labor clause. Milgard provides skilled labor for 10 years only if the home is inside its service territory. Anlin's 100-line document does the same and lists its service territory as Arizona, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Nevada, Oregon, Utah and Washington. For a California house that is not a limitation.
Both invite you to register with the sales order number, and both say registration simplifies service; Milgard states it is not a condition of coverage. Anlin's registration form includes a warranty transfer option, and its FAQ says transfers are handled by calling its Consumer Services Department. Keep the order number: on a Milgard window it is printed between the panes in an upper corner, and Anlin puts it on a label whose position depends on the window type.
We install both Anlin and Milgard windows and will quote the same openings in each so you can compare frame, glass package and warranty document directly. We name the collection or series and the applicable warranty on the quote, and we will tell you if a fiberglass or aluminum unit would serve a particular opening better. Are Anlin and Milgard the same company?
They are separate brands with their own products, dealers and warranty documents, but both are part of MITER Brands. Anlin's site describes the company as a member of MITER Brands, and Milgard says it joined that group in 2019. For a homeowner the practical point is that each window is still ordered, warranted and serviced under its own brand's terms, so compare the specific documents.
Is Anlin really made in California?
Anlin describes itself as a replacement window and door manufacturer headquartered in Clovis, in Fresno County, founded in 1990, and its warranty department address is in Clovis. We have not independently verified which products are built at which facility, so if place of manufacture is important to you, ask the dealer to confirm it for the line you are ordering.
Which has the better warranty?
They are built differently. Anlin's Limited Double Lifetime Warranty covers the original owner-occupant and one subsequent owner-occupant, includes labor and freight, and includes accidental glass breakage. Milgard's standard replacement warranty covers the frame for the original owner-occupant, the glass seal for 20 years and skilled labor for 10, and excludes glass breakage unless you buy its optional Full Lifetime upgrade. Anlin also has a newer 100 line with shorter terms. Match the document to the product on your quote.
What is the Anlin 100 series?
Anlin's warranty page lists a separate warranty for products with a 100 designation: Panoramic 100 and Coronado 100 windows and Malibu 100 doors manufactured after 1 September 2026. That document is a Lifetime Limited Warranty with a 10-year term on the insulated glass and on hardware, and it does not include the accidental glass breakage coverage of the Double Lifetime warranty. If a quote says Panoramic or Coronado, check whether it is the 100 version.
Does a higher UV-blocking percentage mean the window meets Title 24?
No. Glass packages are marketed with figures such as the share of ultraviolet light blocked, which relates to fading. California's energy standard is written in terms of U-factor and solar heat gain coefficient, both of which are on the NFRC label for the specific product. Ask for those two numbers for the glass package and operating style you are buying and compare them with your climate zone.
Can I mix the two brands on one house?
You can, and it is sometimes done to get an aluminum or fiberglass unit from Milgard for one large opening alongside vinyl elsewhere. Frame profiles, glass tint and exterior color will not match exactly between manufacturers, so keep each brand to its own elevation where you can, and compare samples in daylight before ordering.

Heritage Exteriors is beyond exceptional. Very impressed with the timeliness, communication, and reasonable price of the whole project.
Heritage replaced my old crumbling wood siding and did a fantastic job. From the first interactions assessing the project and providing a quote, to the project itself, was all exceptional. My home looks brand new.
We recently had our house re-sided with Hardie product. We interviewed 3 companies, one of them being Heritage Exteriors. From our first meeting with David to the last day's work touching up paint, the experience was excellent.
